KEANE GETS CALLED UP FOR TRIALS IN FLORIDA
Mark Keane was called up by the AFL last weekend to travel to Florida in January after his impressive performance in the Irish trials a few weeks back he will travel to the Florida early in the new year along with two other lads Madden from Dublin and Tohill from Derry who is the son of the legendary Derry and ALL STAR footballer Anthony, the trial will consist of players from all over Europe and the U S A it last for 8 days all the major clubs will have their scouts present and contracts will be offered to the guys that impress the most on behalf of the club we wish Mark the very best and enjoy the experience. Shane Beston who is training with the Cork seniors for the last couple of months has been telling me it has been very enjoyable but tough as well as looking forward to the McGrath Cup and the National league and getting some game time last Sunday morning the Cork U20 had a trial game among themselves and Mitchelstown had 3 lads playing Sean O Sullivan Mark Keane Sean Walsh well done lads and wishing all the best for the coming year.

THE 2017 CORK CONVENTION WAS HELD IN PAIRC U CHAOIMH LAST SUNDAY EVENING IN FRONT OF A BIG ATTENDANCE HISTORY BEING MADE AS TRACEY KENNEDEY FROM KILLA GAA CLUB WAS APPOINTED CHAIRPERSON THE FIRST WOMAN TO BE APPOINTED SHE GAVE A VERY PASSIONATE SPEECH AND PROMISED TO GIVE HER ALL IN KEEPING CORK GAA AT THE FOREFRONT OF SPORT HERE IN CORK SHE THANKED HE PREDEESSOR GER LANE WHO HAD GIVEN GREAT SERVISE TO THE COUNTY ALSO AFTER 20 YEARS IN THE POST PIERCE MURPHY HAS RETIRED AS TREASURER HIS POST TO BE FILLED BY DIARMUID GOWAN FROM FERMOY HIS FATHER DERRY WHO HAD JUST PASSED AWAY RECENTLY HAD HELD THAT POST AND MANY MORE DURING HIS TIME WITH CORK ON BEHALF OF MITCHELSTOWN GAA WE WISH DIARMUID THE VERY BEST IN HIS NEW ROLE AND ALSO TO ALL THE OTHER IN COMING OFFICERS. THE DRAW FOR THIS YEARS CHAMPIONSHIP WAS THEN MADE WITH MITCHELSTOWN GETTING KINSALE IN THE 1ST ROUND NO DATE FIXED YET IT’S A TRICKY DRAW AS A COUPLE YEARS BACK KINSALE WERE VERY STRONG WITH AN INTER COUNTY PLAYERS ONE ON THE senior panel and 2 on the junior team so they will not be taken lightly it will be very tough this year as we will not be taken as lightly as last year, and the element of surprise gone and with Cill Na Martra and Glanworth favorites again next year it will be tough.
