MITCHELSTOWN ADVANCE TO QUARTER FINAL OF THE COUNTY
MITCHELSTOWN 5 10
BISHOPSTOWN O 10
Mitchelstown travelled to Delaney’s football ground just on the outskirts of Cork City to play Bishopstown in this year’s 3rd round of the Premier minor football Championship and put in a fine performance to advance to this year’s quarter final where they will play Nemo Rangers Bishopstown opened the scoring with a fine kicked point on the 3rd minute but straight from the kick out a ball won in the air by Mark Keane who delivered a quick pass to Cathal O Mahoney who rounded his marker and slotted the ball to the back of the net to put Mitchelstown in front and from that point on they were never to be trailing again this was followed by a well kicked point by Mark Keane further points increased the lead to 5 points on the 10th min Bishopstown responded and kicked points on the 12th and 14th min but this was quickly cancelled out by Mitchelstown when Cathal O Mahoney who beat two players and finished the ball to the back of the Bishopstown net to leave the score 2 04 t0 0 03 after 17 min then on the 20th min a wonderful kicked point by Adam Boland had Town 8 clear approaching half time in the dying min of the half a ball intercepted by Adam Boland from the kick out un selfishly put Cathal O MAHONEY through for the easiest of tasks to complete his hat trick and leave Mitchelstown in a very strong position at half time 3 04 to 03 Mitchelstown resumed the 2nd half where they left off the first and 3 quick points in the opening 7 min of the 2nd had the game finished as a contest the best of these scores a good individual effort byCillon Dollion Mitchelstown started to make a few changes and no sooner had Aoran O Brian and Keven Finn entered the contest when both struck the net on the 45th and 47th min while Bishopstown never gave up and added points 4 points in a row they could not breach the Mitchelstown net and so Town ran out easy winners in the end on the scoreline 5 10 to 0 10. They will now play Nemo Rangers next weekend and will have to improve if they are going to advance to the semis TEAM J IRWIN S COLEMAN L FINN K FOX S DOYLE S MURPHY D KEANE M KEANE(01) J O BRIAN M KEATHING P MURPHY C DOLLION (0 1) A BOLAND (0 1) C O MAHONEY (3 06) S ROCHE SUBS D O FLYNN A O BRIAN (1 O1) K FINN (1 O) T DALTON C CAHILL
