MITCHELSTOWN GAA NOTES

MITCHELSTOWN SUNK BY KINSALE
MITCHELSTOWN 0 13
Kinsale 2 09

Mitchelstown played Kinsale last Friday night at the Limerick RD Grounds in the IFL both teams were could not gain promotion so not a lot at stake but to be fair both teams made it a lively contest in wet and windy conditions Mitchelstown opened the scoring with a fine point by Lar Flynn on the 3rd min Kinsale responded with points on the 6th and 10th min but from that point on Mitchelstown started to get on top especially in and around midfield were Lar Flynn and Sean Walsh started to take control points by Jason Cott and Dave Dinnen put Mitchelstown ahead on the 15th min then a brilliant free all of 50 yards was kicked straight over by Liam Keane two further points by Dave Dinnen had Mitchelstown 5 ahead in the dying minutes of the half but lack of concentration left Kinsale add two points in injury time to leave the score at the break 0 7 to 0 4 which was a bit disappointing as Mitchelstown would have felt they should have been further ahead. Mitchelstown started the 2nd half as the first with Liam Keane and Dave Dinnen adding points on the 32nd and 34th min to put 5 between the teams Kinsale responded with a well kicked point on the 36th min but back came Mitchelstown a super individual kicked point by Dave Dinnen and a fee by L Keane stretched Mitchelstown to 6 in front but as what happened late in the first half a total lack of concentration right through the team left Kinsale in the space of 5 min they rattled of 3 points and then on the 45th min got a very sloppy goal to draw the teams level that seemed to wake our lads up and they responded very well a well kicked point by Dinnen on the 47th min was quickly followed by two good scores on the 49th and 51st min by Keane and Sean Walsh to put town 3 ahead entering the last 7 min of the match but again Mitchelstown must have taught they had enough done and completely lost focus and Kinsale took the invitation with open arms they scored points on 53rd 54th 56th min to reduce the lead to two then on the 58th min Mitchelstown gave up the 2nd goal of the game which was as bad as the first in terms how easy it was obtained Liam Keane drew us level on the hour but Kinsale were in no mood to let us off the hook and added 2 points in injury time to give them the points. While always disappointing to lose a game Mitchelstown played some very good football at stages and probably should have won the game while the panel were personal due to championship hurling the following night and some injuries as well as lack of game time this team consisted of a lot of young lads just out of minor and they all acquitted themselves very well TEAM L HANNA D MOLAN K ROCHE D FARLEY G CARROL S FOX D KEANE S WALSH 0 1 L FLYNN 0 1 J COTT 0 2 D DINNEN 0 4 B WHITE C DOLLION S MURPHY L KEANE 0 5
