County Division 4 Football League
Mitchelstown 2-10 Ballydesmond 0-08
There was a good showing from our Intermediate team last Sunday evening playing good football & working hard to get an important win in the league.
Played on a perfectly presented Limerick Road Pitch, Ballydesmond quickly took the lead with a point in the first minute. Shane Beston replied with a point in the 3rd minute & followed with a goal in the 7th to give town a lift & a great point by
Pa Magee on 9 minutes was quickly matched with a rocket of a goal from Sean O'Sullivan. Town had done damage here & the two early goals were going to be vital in this game. Ballydesmond got 3 points to bring them a little into the game but good finishing by Pa Magee , Liam Keane & Shane Cahill saw town lead by 2-05 to 0-5 at the short whistle.
The second half just past away as town kept the visitors at bay with scores from Jason Cotton, Pa Magee, Liam Keane & Michael Walsh along with great work by our defence making sure that we got the win .

Mitchelstown 0-12 Bandon 1-14
Mitchelstown lost out to current County Champions Bandon when the sides met in Co. League at Limerick Road Pitch on Thursday 1st of June.
In what was an entertaining game Mitchelstown played well & had plenty of opportunities to deliver what would have been seen as an important win over proven opposition, however it was not to be as Bandon led for the majority of the game despite town getting close on several occasions before seeing Bandon pull away with a few scores to always leave a slight gap.
First half scores from Sean O'Sullivan, Michael Walsh, Stephen Fox, Shane Cahill (0-2), James Sheehan (0-3) & Lar O'Flynn ensured that Town stayed in touch with Bandon & were only two points down at the break on a scoreline of Mitchelstown 0-09 to Bandons 1-08.
Town were well in touch at half time & played well in spurts but 1-03 from Bandon between the 18th & 22nd minute just proves that you need to 100% physically & mentally prepared against teams like this as similar stats between the 16th & 21st minute in last year’s Championship game totally destroyed our chances of winning that game as Bandon went on to blow us away on that occasion.
However, this time around, our players worked away & we had the score of the game in the 6th minute of the second period from Pa Magee, but despie a point from Sean Walsh & a second pointed free from Michael Walsh which left us just a point down with 14mins remaining, we again lost our concentration & Bandon tagged on four more points to run out deserved winners by 5pts on the night.

Cork Footballers Reach Munster Final & Hurlers Play Waterford This Weekend.
Cork Senior footballers had just one point to spare over Tipperary last Saturday when the two sides met in Pairc Ui Rinn. Cork now advance to a Munster Final against Kerry in Kilarney on July 2nd due to a delay in the opening of the redeveloped Pairc Ui Chaoimh.
Cork's hurlers get their go against Waterford in Thurles this Sunday & I’m sure they would also settle for the narrowest of wins over Waterford to set up a date with Clare in the Final.
Tickets for Sundays match are available from O'Farrells Supervalu , Mitchelstown & various other Supervalu & Centra outlets throughout the country.
Welcome Home
The Club would like to give a warm welcome home to Dave Dineen & his partner Stacey McCallum & Paddy & Niamh Dunne who are home from Austrailia & Singapore respectively at present & also to Jason Cott who returns from his studies for the Summer months.
Golf Classic
The Club will host the 2nd Mick Lewis Golf Classic at Mitchelstown Golf Club on Thursday 29th & Friday 30th of June. More details in next week’s notes.
Strictly Come Dancing
Mitchelstown G.A.A. in conjunction with Mitchelstown Musical Society will be hosting a spectacular "Strictly Come Dancing" show in The Firgrove Hotel , Mitchelstown on Saturday 14th of October 2017 at 8pm.
There will be approximately forty dancers performing on the night in what promises to be a highly entertaining event. All monies raised will be ploughed back into the local community as the GAA Club are installing a new floodlighting system at their grounds on Limerick Road & The Musical Society helping to finance next year's production which will take place in February.
Now comes your chance to get involved as we are now looking for dancers both male & female to take part in the event. You don't need to be Fred Astaire or Ginger Rogers to take part as full training will be provided in the lead up to the event.
This is a great chance to let loose & be part of a memorable occasion enjoying the fun & making friends along the way so whether you are native of the town or indeed are new to the town & want to meet more people from the locality, then this is an opportunity not to be missed.
Each dancer is asked to secure personal sponsorship of €150 . This sponsor will be featured in the event programme beside their dancer & will have the opportunity to have their advertisment displayed on the big screens at various stages during the night.
The dancers will also be given voting cards to help them gain votes with each vote costing €2 or three votes for just €5. All votes that are sold will be added to your total on the night. It is completely up to you as an individual whether you want to get votes or not, keeping in mind that there are actually two competitions running on the night, the first for whom the judges deem to be the best dance couple & a second for the couple who raises the most money but remember the same couple cannot win both prizes.
We will provide all hair styling & make up requirements at the venue on the the of the event. You will also be given advise on dance costumes by our choreographer once dancers are allocated partners to dance with. Remember you don't have to have a dance partner to take part , all that we reqiure you to be is committed & ready to have lots of fun.
So mark the date, get your gladrags out & get ready to have a great time as Mitchelstown goes " Strictly " on Saturday 14th of October.
If you would like to get involved please make contact with any of those listed below & we will arrange to meet you personally to iron out any bits & pieces that you may have queries about.
