Mallow 2-12 V Mitchelstown1-05

Having already suffered defeat to Kilworth in Round 1, we were always going to be under pressure going into this losers round tie against Mallow.

However a great start for town saw us lead 1-01 to 0-01 after just five minutes & you'd like to think that we could have kept that tempo going but unfortunately we didn't raise a flag again during the first half & Mallow slowly tipped away with points which wore us down & with us missing several experienced players from the Kilworth game, this young team found it hard going & we were behind at half time on a scoreline of 1-10 to 1-01.

As I say we had a very young team out with 14 players out of our 20 man panel all having played minor grade in 2016 but given time these boys will gain the neccessary experience at adult level to help them reach the potential. 

At half time, things were looking grim but in fairness to town we never gave in to the much more experienced Mallow outfit & scored 4 times to Mallow's 3 in this half but it was not to be our night & despite great heart by town we go out at this stage but look forward to the latter stages of the league campaign where we will hopefully have better luck.

These younger guys were helped by Diarmuid, Michael, Colm, Dave M , Keano & Fitzy but it was a tough night to be involved but fair play to those who made themselves available.
