Kilworth 3-10 Mitchelstown 0-09

The concession of 1-02 inside the first 3 minutes lay the foundations for Kilworth to advance in this Junior Championship tie played earlier today in Glanworth.

Town found it difficult to really get going in this game & for long periods struggled against Kilworth's more physical presence which was a telling factor as we struggled to get anyway close enough on the scoreboard to really trouble them.

It was an honest performance from a town team with no less than nine starters making their Championship debuts which augers well for the Club & despite already fielding 16 players in Intermediate championship already this year had a panel of 27 players togged out ready for action.

This is a tough grade & hopefully over the next few years , the experience of playing in it will serve our players well as they try to break into the first team.

It was the first defeat of the year for this team & hopefully they will bounce back in Round 2 in a few weeks time.

The attention now turns back to league competition where we will try to secure a semi-final spot with a win over Ballyclough next weekend.
